First Toronto Island Pike
This energetic Pike hit very close to shore in a flash, then unhooked itself and got away just as quickly. This was the first pike we had seen on Toronto Islands so far..

While researching shore fishing opportunities in the Toronto Area, we took the ferry across the harbor to the Toronto Islands. There we found plenty of weed beds and structure capable of holding fish. It wasn't long before we discovered a pattern and we're catching Northern Pike almost non-stop.

Re: Small Pike
Clive Mathias (2 days, 21 hours ago)These were all caught in May and June. While there are still pike around at this time of year, most have moved to cooler, deeper water. Fishing is tough at the end of the summer becuase the prime fishing areas are now covered in heavy weeds. If you go this week, look for deeper water. Pike and bass are often hiding under the sailboats on hot days.

BB (2 days, 21 hours ago)when does Pike fishing heat up? what time of year did you guys hook these fish? thinking about making a trip this week, what type of fish will be around then? thanks
Re: Small Pike
Clive Mathias (3 days, 17 hours ago)Yeah for sure, pike love big flies! From shore you need to cast a fair distance, but you can always get in the water, in which case you'll need to cast only 20-30 feet.
Re: Small Pike
